What Tarela does, and why it will never invent a price

Tarela is the live customer-facing product from NOVATOR.AI. It sits inside WhatsApp and Instagram and answers the questions a small business gets every day: how much, when are you open, can I book.

Where it came from

A salon owner in Mexico City told me she loses about four appointments a week to messages she answers too late. A mechanic in Bogotá showed me a phone with 312 unread chats from the previous month. A dentist in Lima lost a patient to a competitor because the patient's question sat in her queue for nine hours.

None of these are technology problems. They are staffing problems. The owner cannot afford a second person to watch WhatsApp, and WhatsApp Business' built-in auto-reply is not good enough to keep a real conversation going.

That is what Tarela is for.

The hard rule

Tarela will not invent a price, an availability slot, or a service. If the owner has not entered the data, Tarela will say so and route the customer to a human.

This is not a product feature we are proud of. It is a load-bearing constraint. The most common failure mode of AI receptionists is hallucination: a price, a slot, a return policy that the customer acts on and the business cannot honour. The trust cost of that one bad answer is larger than the value of any ten good ones.

So Tarela prefers to say "I will get the owner to confirm" rather than guess.

What it is good at

  • Replying in seconds, 24/7, in the customer's language.
  • Detecting the customer's language and translating the message for the owner.
  • Collecting name, service, and preferred time so the owner only has to confirm.
  • Escalating sensitive messages — health, billing disputes, complaints — with the conversation context attached.

What it is not

Tarela is not a sales agent. It does not upsell, chase leads, or run campaigns. We build for businesses that would rather lose a sale than fake one.
